BROKEN LEG THEATER VOTED BEST OF RICHMOND
RICHMOND, Va., May 21, 2019 – Broken Leg Theater, a non-profit community theater in Chesterfield County, was voted Richmond’s best local company by the readers of Style Weekly. This is the second consecutive year the theater received top honors in this category.
Broken Leg Theater (BLT) launched in 2014 after a group of friends with diverse theater backgrounds identified needs unmet by other theater arts groups in the region. BLT emphasizes training, both in the technical and performance aspects, as well as the production of high quality, family friendly shows.
“Broken Leg Theater is a family made up of many families. Multiple generations have performed together on stage and contributed behind the scenes to make our productions a success,” said Kristin Koontz, President and founding member of the theater. “We have a place for anyone interested in theater arts, whether on stage, as a part of the crew or running the front of the house.”
Over 350 individual cast and crew members produced 13 shows over the past five seasons. The 2019-2020 season, which includes stories known and loved by many, will be announced in June via social media and on the website. Additionally, the theater will host a number of workshops this summer beginning with Vocal Skills for the Stage on June 1, 2019.
“We are incredibly grateful for the participants, patrons, family and friends for choosing to vote Broken Leg Theater for Richmond’s Best Local Theater Company,” says Koontz. “Your support is what has grown our theater into such a success in only five years.”
